Hampstead Heath
It’s not summer in London without a picnic on the Heath. Hampstead Heath is one of the delights of London, a 320-acre public park bordering Hampstead and Highgate with swimming ponds for men, ladies and dogs, ponds to admire wildlife, woodland, playgrounds, sports facilities and one of London’s best kite-flying spots. The lovely Art Deco lido (Parliament Hill lido) is a Grade II listed building and worth a look even if you don’t fancy braving the unheated pool itself. From Parliament Hill the park offers amazing views of the City of London and beyond. Many of London’s landmark buildings are visible, from BT Tower, the London Eye to the Shard and the skyscrapers of the City, the Gherkin and Tower 42.
