BT Tower
BT Tower is another iconic London building that has had numerous name changes during its existence. Previously named the Post Office Tower, London Telecom Tower and the British Telecom Tower before gaining its current title.
Constructed by Peter Lind and Company and completed in 1964 the tower held the title of the tallest building in London and the UK until it was surpassed by the NatWest Tower (Tower 42) in 1980. Londoners of a certain age will remember it being at the centre of the laser shows and publicity in 1990 which marked the old telephone codes changing from 01 to 071 and 081.
