The view in this image encompasses so much of the London skyline and many of its iconic buildings. To the left, you have the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. The London Eye with Buckingham Palace nestled behind it within St James’ Park.
Move along the Thames to cross the city into the centre of the image. Here, you have the cluster of instantly recognisable buildings of the City of London. Tower 42 now dwarfed by its fellows – the Walkie-Talkie (20 Fenchurch Street), the Heron Tower, the Pinnacle, the Scalpel, the Leadenhall Building, 100 Bishopsgate. All these newer buildings have already become recognisable shapes on the London skyline. HMS Belfast sits between the two bridges. The Tower of London is visible at the north end of Tower Bridge.
Beyond this, the river curves along towards Canary Wharf. Further still, the train lines and the river disappear from view on their journey east, towards the mouth of the Thames itself.
Roseate London was shot at sunset from the Shard – still the UK’s tallest building.
