30 St Mary Axe 360 Panorama, Dawn to Dusk

In this 30 St Mary Axe 360 you can explore the views from one of the City of London’s most iconic buildings. The building commonly known as ‘the Gherkin’ is the 4th tallest in the City of London, behind Tower 42, the Heron Tower and the Leadenhall Building (‘the Cheesegrater’), but still stands out as instantly recognisable on the City’s skyline. It counts as a notable feat of engineering, with its central circumference being just 2 metres narrower than its height.

Shooting close to the summer solstice meant a long days shoot, being in position by 4am, and capturing sunset at around 9pm. I was shooting from the cradle that traverses the peak of the building. Stopping at the same precise points on every run, each full circuit took around 45 minutes. This brought its own challenges when it came to blending the images together to create the panorama.
